This is a car that was almost common back in the day. Simply drive too fast and one would appear behind you on the freeway. Easy as that. Today when you speed you get an Explorer behind you. Pretty sad how far we have fallen as a society.

This one is a highly documented example with 2 binders of original invoices, warranty cards, receipts and maintenance records. This one came out of the fabled Oregon State Patrol's double order from whence the Saleen Coupes came. Other companies and lucky individuals scooped up some good deals on these cars and this one might be the weirdest. Without docs I don't think I would have believed it but this one was sold to Blue Cross/Blue Shield. What health insurance company needed a pursuit spec Mustang back in the late 80's...or ever for that matter?

This Mustang has had a well documented life. Thankfully it appears that it has avoided a life of drag racing or crowd culling. The panels each wear their original Ford VIN decals though the doors and roof have been repainted as you would expect from a police unit. Unfortunately there isn't any photo documentation of this one in his service uniform. The paint repairs are not of the best quality with some flaking on the doors. Panel wise though, this one is nice & straight should the next owner decide on a repaint. The rear tail lights are recently installed NOS units and the headlights are new reproduction units.

Inside the Regatta Blue cloth still shows quite well. The driver's seat has had the foam serviced to get that comfy feel back but otherwise this one is bone stock and quite well preserved for being 37 years old. Look at the 'Certified 140mph Calibration' Speedometer, the regular Mustangs made do with an 85mph unit. Small things say a lot, especially with a working map light and functioning ash tray door. Looking around you notice things like...window cranks??? Yep, no electric windows to add weight to a pursuit car. There were lots of areas in these cars where weight was saved and amenities skipped all in the name of catchin' the bad guys!

Under the hood lives a Ford Performance X302 crate engine with approximately 16k miles on the mill. The crate engines feature Ford Racing Aluminum Cylinder Heads and one of the best sounding camshafts of all time, the E303. It's no coincidence that at the same time as Van Halen was writing the drum intro to Hot For Teacher Ford was developing this cam. It's breathing through an off-road pipe and an American Thunder cat back. This Mustang literally sounds perfect. If you can go through the gears in this car without a huge smile appearing on your face, give it up you're dead inside.

The brakes on these cars were never legendary, which would explain why so many of these cars ended up in the back side of other cars. The brakes were upgraded to SN95's both front and rear that facilitated the upgrade to 5-lug wheels from the factory 4-lugs. 2nd gen Cobra wheels are a direct bolt on for the conversion and keep a factory look.
