This is a sharp example of what everyone wanted for their hauler back in the 60's. The '59 El Camino is arguably the best looking El Camino. This one is shot in Victory Red with hundreds of feet of brightly polished chrome & stainless steel trim. Terms like 'dazzling' and 'art deco' come to mind. There are curves, fins, wrap around windows and you find more new fun stuff every time you look at it.

The paint is simply gorgeous. The repaint was documented on film...and the pics are included. In them you can see what started out as a faded but super solid body was brought down to bare metal then brought up to primer then to the stunner that it is still today. It appears this one has always been a solid survivor free of any major maladies. While the paint is still a
stunner there are some small imperfections visible on very close inspection. You can easily call this one a 5 footer. The chrome & stainless are in very good condition. Take a look at the videos, this one is impressive.

Inside the interior was completely restored in cloth as it has lived in the hot sunny environments of the South West where leather & vinyl are unbearable in the heat. The fit & finish inside are nice and the seat is super comfortable. The gauges both temp and fuel, work properly. The wipers, lights, window regulators and the Air Conditioning switches work nicely.

Under the hood lives the venerable 409 Cubic Inch W-Motor. Receipt documentation shows a rebuild along with a host of new parts. Block casting is 3857656 for verification. It is topped with a tri-power intake manifold and 3 2-barrel carburetors equipped with a progressive linkage. The setup works nicely and looks beautifully.
The 409 is equipped with Doug's long tube headers and Flowmaster mufflers. It sounds perfect!

Since this one has lived in the Sunny Southwest it was equipped with an air conditioning kit. The system was just serviced and works nicely. The controls have been located inside the ash tray to keep the interior's vintage feel.

The suspension has been upgraded with larger front and rear sway bars to keep body roll to a minimum. If you have ever driven a 59 El Camino or Bel Air you know they handle about as well as floating log.

The wheels are 15" and just had new Cooper Cobra Radials installed.

The bed floor was covered with an aluminum diamond plate panel that brightens up the bed. This car was never going to be used as a hauler. Looking under the car you can still see the factory bed floor which appears to be good should you decide to remove the aluminum.
