Darts were designed to be a 'Bang for the Buck' car. They were built light, available with a full line of V8 engines from mild to wild and priced cheap. Even today you still get more car for the money. This one here is a prime example. Where else can you find a '70 Mopar in Factory Ordered Plum Crazy, Factory Hood Scoops & a Go Wing, a throaty V8, Disc Brakes, Crisp Black Interior and a Super Solid Original Panel Body priced in the mid teens???

Plum Crazy paint cars are among the most desirable of Mopar's offerings. This Dart wears the coveted FC7 paint code for Plum Crazy. The car wears a repaint in the correct color that presents very well. Hailing from central Montana the body on this Dart is quite impressive with no obvious signs of rust or prior rust repair. The trim is nice, though the rear bumper does show some thin chrome. Overall though it presents very well, easily nice enough for weekend shows and gas station crowds.

Inside the interior looks very nice with recent upholstery, carpet and door panels. The original dash pad is in great shape. Rather than cut the dash a single DIN stereo has been installed under the dash. Overall this is a very nice interior.

 

Under the hood lives a 318 dressed with a 340 air cleaner pie tin. This 318 has been upgraded with an aluminum intake manifold and a Street Demon carburetor. It fires up easily on the electric choke and has a great note to the idle. Tipping the scales at 2900lbs, the warmed up 318 powers this Dart around easily.

 

With Power Steering and Front Disc Brakes, this Dart is an easy and fun driver. The steering is crisp and responsive. Braking is consistent and straight with a nice easy pedal effort. It cruises nicely around town or on the highway at 80. The
