1964 Fairlane
$49,950
Factory K Code 289 HiPo
Factory Sport Coupe!
Factory 4-Speed Transmission
Factory 9" Differential
When you think of rare Fords the K-Codes are one of the big ones. They were super rare in the day and today the survivors are seldom seen. The Fairlane in '64 was to be the base of the Thunderbolt program. Many of the K Fairlanes were posts, others were bench seat 500's and about 100 were the Hardtop Sport Coupe with bucket seats and a 4 speed console. To find one today is quite rare.
This one was sold originally in the Seattle area before heading down to the Glendale Arizona area. This one is just about as solid as you will find. The only rust we can find is a small spot in the passenger rear floor presenting as a small crack in the floor. No obvious signs of prior accident damage either. The paint appears to be a single repaint of the original 'M' Code Wimbledon White. It looks nice but is an older repaint with some imperfections like small chips & scratches visible on close inspection. Overall though, this is a good looking car.
Inside the interior was restored at some point with new carpet and seat upholstery. The seats are comfortable and the upholstery fits nicely. That rare factory console still has the super rare 4-speed plate too. Not much needs done in here.
Under the hood the 289 has the correct date code for the car and still wears the HiPo balancer and '20' code HiPo cylinder heads. The solid lifters are plenty audible so no mistaking those. The engine runs quite well and makes nice power.
The 4 speed T10 has been fitted with a Hurst shifter but still wears the correct date coding for the car. It does shift well both up and down the gates.
Out back the super rare tapered 9" was originally a 3.89 open. At some point it has been fitted with a 3.25 ratio unit with a Traction Lock carrier.
