This '71 is a Rare & Well Optioned example. The combination of 351 Cleveland 4 Barrel, 4 Speed AND Air Conditioning is highly prized. Typically it is a pick any 2. Combine this with the Ram Air, Mach 1 option, Dark Green Metallic and a Black Decor Interior and you have a very desirable car on your hands.

The body on this Mach is straight with an older repaint. The panels overall are solid though there is some rust in the lower quarter panels as pictured. The floors look great with new rear pans installed.Torque boxes & frame rails are also nice & solid. This one presents like a 'survivor' and could easily be driven as such or you could treat it to a restoration quality repaint.

The interior appears to be the original 'Born-With' upholstery. It has the usual wear but could easily be used as a no guilt driver. It presents just fine and there are no worries about tossing something in the back seat or passengers with dirty feet.

Under the hood the Numbers Matching 351 Cleveland 4 Barrel still lives & breathes. It still wears its original Ram Air equipment. The 71 Cleveland 4V's still had 10.7 to 1 compression and laid down an advertised 285 horsepower. It fires up incredibly easy thanks to a high torque mini starter. The exhaust note is crisp with a nice deep sound. The engine is believed to have 98k original miles and still runs quite nice. However, it does have a piston rattle typical of the breed. We would recommend a rebuild on the engine.

The 4 speed toploader wears its Hurst shift linkage and works excellent. The toploader transmission is widely regarded as one of the best manual transmissions of all time.

The Power Disc Brake & Power Steering options make this one an enjoyable drive.

​

The air conditioning is currently not working. Typically after sitting unused the dryer will need to be replaced before the unit is charged. The heater box should also be removed & cleaned as well as a new heater core since the vehicle was stored for several years.

​

Magnum 500 wheels were originally optioned on this car making for a truly striking appearance. They fit nice and have been wrapped in BF Goodrich Tires.

​

The Mach 1 Package added Staggered Rear Shocks, Heavier Front Sway Bar, Higher Rate Springs and a Rear Sway Bar. These upgrades went a long way toward making the larger for 71 Mustang handle like its smaller predecessors.
