It’s no secret that Mopar E-Bodies (Challenger & Barracudas) have long been Muscle Car Icons. They command some of the highest prices of the market. Of those the 71’s command the highest prices due to their rarity as well as some of the best looking grills ever made. This Challenger draws upon the famous T/A Challenger that ran in the Trans Am racing circuits for which it was named. The T/A’s ran a 340 cubic inch rev machine that breathed through (3) 2 Barrel Holley Carburetors factory! Other cues were an aggressive hood scoop and rear wings that really set them aside from the group.

This ’71 never fails to draw crowds and constant thumbs up. The car really presents well with nice panel alignment and a deep shine to the paint. Overall the car is solid and would make a great sunny day driver or even a daily driver depending on your climate.

Inside the interior looks great. These are really good looking interiors with plenty of room for larger passengers and long road trips. It has the factory floor console with the slapstick shifter as well as the Rallye Gauges. The black upholstery looks beautiful and is very comfortable. The carpet is in good condition and fits well. The dash pad is in good condition with only a minor crack at the speaker.

Under the hood, the engine compartment looks awesome. Factory style Six Pack with Air Grabber Air Cleaner, Paint Matched, Billet Serpentine System, Be Cool Radiator with Matching Electric Fans and MORE! The already potent 340 has been seriously pumped up. The cylinder heads have been replaced with Aluminum Edelbrock Performer RPM’s, a larger camshaft, Six-Pack Intake with 3-2 Barrel Carburetors, MSD Ignition, March Under-Drive Pulleys and Ceramic Coated Headers. The engine sounds great and revs nice & smooth. The tires are easily victimized with just a blip of the throttle. Out on the road the engine only uses the center 2 barrel carburetor thanks to the progressive linkage (you could almost say it economical with a straight face). Dig deeper in the throttle though and the outer carburetors come in and things happen quickly. The engine revs quickly, trans is grabbing gears and the tires are doing all they can to harness the estimated 425 Horsepower.

Many Mopars back in the day only had drum brakes and manual steering. Not so here though. The Disc Brakes work excellent hauling this bullet down from speed. The power steering makes even the tightest parking lots a breeze. No need to wrestle the car into a parking spot at your favorite cruiz-in.

Rolling stock is none other than the Torque Thrust II’s from American Racing. Up front the 17x8 fit easily in the wheel wells. Out back 17x10 wheels are wrapped with 275 40’s. They 17’s really work with the package and provide crisp turn in on corners and combined with the front & rear sway bars make this car devour corners.
