Great Starter/Restoration Bronco

Excellent Running 351 Windsor Engine

Solid Running/Driving Bronco

For many years this Bronco powered a sawmill in Montana. The previous owner had the rear driveshaft modified making this Bronco a true 'Utility Vehicle'. As such it lived in a dry environment which really spared the body. There is some typical rust in the drivers floor pan and passenger upper engine compartment corner. Otherwise this Bronco is quite solid. There are some bumps and bruises but all are minor enough to make this a straight forward restoration.

The interior is pretty basic in the Broncos. The factory bucket seats and rear bench are in place. The Bronco gauge cluster is there and gauges do work.

The original engine was replaced with a 351 Windsor. The 351 produces 40 more horsepower and 55lb-ft of torque while still fitting nicely in the Bronco engine compartment. The engine runs excellent and sounds great too.

The 3 speed manual transmission and Dana 20 transfer case work properly. Both were inspected and serviced. The clutch is older but works properly. The front axle is a Dana 30 with standard hubs. There is currently no front driveshaft installed. It was removed, presumably as it would not have been used at the mill, and was not included when we bought it. A new driveshaft would be installed for the restoration typically.

The tires are in excellent condition, 95% tread, and are 235 75 15's.

This Bronco does run and drive, though I would not consider it a road ready unit. We did install new rear brake hardware, wheel cylinders, master cylinder and front brake lines. The axles (ball joints, steering gear, bearings, hubs) were not disassembled and inspected. This would be an excellent starting point for your restoration as it basically a complete and straight forward Bronco.
