1940 Dodge Truck

Pending!

Incredibly Original Survivor
Original Cab/Bed Paint
Flathead 6 with 4 Spd. Manual

This 1940 Dodge Truck is a true survivor, throwing it back to an era of simplicity.  It sits in an amazing place of originality and functionality, with some unique features we wish were on the cars of today.  This truck is happy to be driven and is quite enjoyable to drive!
Only three people have called this beauty their own over the course of the last 81 years!!  The 1st owner owned for 41 years.  2nd owner owned for 30 years and 3rd owner owned for the last 10 years! Based on information from the previous owner, the paint on the cab on on the bed is believed to be original.  In looking things over closely, we do feel it's true. The paint on the other panels looks great and everything is rust free, as is the underside.  In the bed of the truck you'll find nice finished hardwood with metal strips that looks incredible, topped by the "wormwood" racks to finish things off nicely.  The spare tire with original style wheel is mounted to the side of the bed.
Step inside this ride and you step back in time.  The doors open and close with ease, better than most "modern" cars and trucks.  The windows roll up and down as they should and all gauges and lights work properly including the Harrison Heater.  There are some really cool features with this truck:  The windshield opens outward to let air into the cab and a vent pops up at the center of the hood - also for air flow. There's an original ash tray mounted to the dash and wood floor boards open up for access to the battery (a 6 volt system).  The carpet kit looks nice, the bench seat is very comfortable and clean - no rips or tears, and the headliner above has a unique finish believed to be original as well.  The one modern upgrade given to this old girl is the Pioneer stereo w/remote mounted under the dash at the drivers side, and speakers hidden under the dash.
Pop open the sides of the hood to access the motor, and you'll see original weather stripping still in tact!  The flat 6 is estimated to be about a 1951 motor and it runs great, but we do not know when it was last rebuilt. The 4 speed trans works well also and is non-synchronized, so some fun factor is added in getting the timing of shifts down smoothly.

The previous owner reported that the brakes have very low miles on a complete hydraulic brake service including bearings and seals. New Cooper Tires on original wheels keep this one tracking smoothly down the road.
