This Bronco has been the lucky recipient of THOUSAND$ in upgrades! The paint is beautiful with a fresh repaint from Moslanders Rod & Custom. The goal was to build a nice driver, capable of weekend shows but not too nice to see some use. The 2-Stage paint layed down nicely and is the perfect color. The panels are nice & straight with new reproduction rockers installed. Wild Horses Gorilla Warflares were installed and fit excellent. These flares will bend & flex, not crack or brake like fiberglass flares. High end bumpers front & rear look good and protect this Bronco from nearly any impact. New Side Marker Lights, Tail Lights, Headlights & Bezels were installed as well. The Head Lights are high end projector style that can light up the darkest night. The tail lights were replaced with an LED kit and brand new lenses. They are quite bright and look great.
Inside this Bronco looks just as good. The whole tub was Linexed and the dash panel repainted. The dash bezels were cleaned & re-installed. The instrument cluster was completely rebuilt with White Face Gauges, Custom Painted Bezels, Repainted Needles and then Calibrated by Kevin at Classy Chassis Restoration. To help keep an eye on the engine happenings White Face Equus Gauges were installed in the dash as well offering a one glance check up. They work properly and look great. The factory seats were tossed out in favor of high end seats from Tom's Broncos. They have excellent support, offer headrests to prevent whiplash and they just look great. The rear seat has headrests as well for your smaller passengers. The rear also folds flat then will 'tumble' forward offering full use of the bed area if you want to haul anything. A matching floor console was installed that will house a nice radio as well offer a lockable area.
Under the hood lives a 418 Cubic Inch Monster. It is a custom build from Jim Greene's Performance, former NHRA Top Fuel Funny Car World Champion. It makes and estimated 550 horsepower. The engine is of course has forged pistons, roller camshaft, fully balanced with Edelbrock Victor Cylinder Heads, Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap Intake Manifold, Aftermarkes Fasteners and Performance Gaskets. We have receipts and in-depth details on the internals available for interested customers. It is topped with a self learning MSD Atomic Fuel Injection kit. This system is self-learning, meaning it will make all of its own adjustments based on how you drive and where you live. If it ever has an issue it has its own diagnostic system and easy to read screen. There is reportedly in excess of $14,000 invested under the hood.
In order to find an overdrive transmission capable of living behind this beast a ZF 5-Speed truck transmission was selected. It has a nice, low first gear, shifts like a late model vehicle and has an overdrive 5th gear. Highway cruizing RPM's are under 2000 rpm letting this big cubic inch engine sip gas easier than a stock 302!
The differentials were completely rebuilt by Randy's Ring & Pinion. The Dana 44 was rebuilt with new bearings, seals, 4340 Steel Axles, USA Standard Gear 4.88 ratio gears and Professionally Assembled. The 9" Rear Differential was rebuilt with new bearings, seals, 31 Spline Axles, Grizzly Locker, USA Standard Gear 4.88 ratio gears, New Yoke and Professionally Assembled.
This Bronco has Power Front Disc Brakes. They stop excellent and really are a must-have item with 37" tires.
The Power Steering works great and has no problem turning those huge tires. The factory steering linkage was not up to the task though. To remedy this a Heavy Duty Heim Joint Steering Linkage Kit from Tom's Broncos was installed. The steering is now crisp & responsive.
The suspension has seen a host of upgrades. To start with a Wild Horses Lift Kit was selected. It has New Front & Rear Springs, Urethane Bushings, Heavy Duty Shocks and new hardware. For even more travel and off-road capabilities Duff Long Arms were added in front. These arms are much longer than the factory radius arms and use heim joints rather than fixed bushings allowing for some serious travel.
If you like Icon Broncos but do not have the $150,000+ to spend, take a good look at this one. It has many of the same features as the Icon without the Mortgage Payment. We like to call this one the ICAN Bronco. For I CAN afford it!
